  • The Resource Center now has a new look that facilitates customer flow and will increase use of the system. It also makes it easier for staff to monitor computer use, and to help out when needed.
  • Rhonda Marquez, our Business Services Account Representative, attended recent training on better meeting the needs of employers, and providing staff with information that facilitates effective matching of candidates to the jobs that employers list with us.
  • As part of our services to agricultural employers, we will be offering free workshops during the winter months for agricultural workers on protecting themselves from pesticides. The workshops will be 90 minutes long and are presented in Spanish.

    Attendees who complete the Workshop will receive their WDA Worker Protection card, which is valid for five years. Dr. David Youmans (WSU) is coordinating the program and will provide the instructors.
  • WorkSource Sunnyside will host the Business After Hours meeting of the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce on September 28th. After a tour of WorkSource, Jesse Hernandez will present a brief talk about succession planning for small businesses.
  • "Working Wardrobe" continues to be used by our program participants who need clothing appropriate for interviews and the workplace. We continue to receive clothing donations, which are very much appreciated by these job seekers.
  • Horizon, Inc. is providing GED classes on Tuesdays and Tursdays, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.This computer-based class is open-entry. More and more folks are signing up each day.
  • We are happy to welcome Job Corps back to WorkSource. They will be represented here every Monday.
